Once the soul looked contemptuously on the body, and then that
contempt was the supreme thing:- the soul wished the body meagre,
ghastly, and famished. Thus it thought to escape from the body and the
earth.
Oh, that soul was itself meagre, ghastly, and famished; and
cruelty was the delight of that soul!
But ye, also, my brethren, tell me: What doth your body say about
your soul? Is your soul not poverty and pollution and wretched
self-complacency?

Friedrich Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, part 1.

“When I am trying to explain something complicated to my toddler i use analogy, because it makes it easier for her to grasp complexities. I use the same approach with theists for the same reason.”

Xenofanes 570 ca. f.kr. If. Sofies Verden

“A man’s ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hopes of reward after death.”

Bertrand Russell, unsourced.

“If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way.”

Albert Einstein’s contribution to physics was perhaps not quite what the layman usually thinks it was. Albert Einstein was asked to poseso many times that he said if he hadn’t been a physicist, he could havemade a living as a model. Albert Einstein was the most famous and influential scientist of the twentieth century; his discoveries transformed both the world itself and our understanding of it. ” — Albert Einstein”So long as they don’t get violent, I want to let everyone say whatthey wish, for I myself have always said exactly what pleased me.

  6. Emil Kirkegaard says:

    Hej Niels

Tak for kommentaren.

  7. Jesper Holm says:

På forhånd undskyld for en måske lidt umoden og usaglig kommentar, men jeg kan ikke dy mig for at spørge om det var bevidst du skrev “Bonerparte” efter citatet “Never interupt your enemy while he is making a mistake”, så er “Boner”parte en pervers reference til et vidst engelsk slangord? :D

    (Det korrekte er selvfølgelig Bonaparte)

  8. Emil Kirkegaard says:

    Hej Jesper,

Hahaha. Nej, det var ikke med vilje. ;) Men godt set!
