A lot of ideas to think about as datasets of ancients become more common.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"bookCover_28699247\" class=\"bookCoverTarget\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/28699247-principles-of-evolutionary-medicine\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"bookCover\" title=\"Principles of Evolutionary Medicine by Peter Gluckman\" src=\"https:\/\/i.gr-assets.com\/images\/S\/compressed.photo.goodreads.com\/books\/1460910658l\/28699247._SX98_.jpg\" alt=\"Principles of Evolutionary Medicine by Peter Gluckman\" \/><\/a> This was a lot less about medicine than expected, and more of a typical summary of evolutionary biology and disease in humans. It was kinda dull in parts.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"bookCover_53481795\" class=\"bookCoverTarget\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/53481795-in-the-know\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"bookCover\" title=\"In the Know by Russell T Warne\" src=\"https:\/\/i.gr-assets.com\/images\/S\/compressed.photo.goodreads.com\/books\/1597017503l\/53481795._SX98_.jpg\" alt=\"In the Know by Russell T Warne\" \/><\/a> Russell Warne&#8217;s anticipated debunking\/introduction book. Honestly, this book is a pretty good first step to learning about intelligence research. I think it is overly simplified in some parts, but it&#8217;s not written for me.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a id=\"bookCover_52622479\" class=\"bookCoverTarget\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/52622479-creating-future-people\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"bookCover\" title=\"Creating Future People by Jonathon Anomaly\" src=\"https:\/\/i.gr-assets.com\/images\/S\/compressed.photo.goodreads.com\/books\/1573871283l\/52622479._SX98_SY160_.jpg\" alt=\"Creating Future People by Jonathon Anomaly\" \/><\/a> <\/strong>Jonathan Anomaly&#8217;s biotech eugenics advocacy book. Naturally, I agree with this stuff!<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"bookCover_28532030\" class=\"bookCoverTarget\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/28532030-conservative-criminology\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"bookCover\" src=\"https:\/\/i.gr-assets.com\/images\/S\/compressed.photo.goodreads.com\/books\/1452686451l\/28532030._SX98_.jpg\" alt=\"Conservative Criminology by John Wright\" \/><\/a> It&#8217;s hard to find a conservative in criminology, but there are a few. This is one of their books. I will be reading of this stuff. Salter\" \/><\/a> I&#8217;ve been diving into this big history kind of books that involve some genetics. The Salter book is very good, much better than expected. I will have more to say on the Joe Henrich books, but I am finishing a few more books on this topic before doing a review. Right now I am reading <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/51633906-individualism-and-the-western-liberal-tradition\">Kevin MacDonald&#8217;s Individualism book<\/a>, which purports to explain the same stuff as Henrich&#8217;s 2020 book, but from Indo-European and Hunter Gatherer admixture instead of church bans on incest.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"bookCover_54697283\" class=\"bookCoverTarget\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/54697283-memoirs-of-a-dissident-psychologist\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"bookCover\" title=\"Memoirs of a Dissident Psychologist by Richard Lynn\" src=\"https:\/\/i.gr-assets.com\/images\/S\/compressed.photo.goodreads.com\/books\/1595829006l\/54697283._SX98_.jpg\" alt=\"Memoirs of a Dissident Psychologist by Richard Lynn\" \/><\/a> Richard Lynn&#8217;s memoirs. Helmuth Nyborg always tells me stories of Eysenck, so I have been reading some of his work. The book on Genius is awesome. <a href=\"https:\/\/emilkirkegaard.dk\/en\/2020\/01\/genius-the-natural-history-of-creativity-hans-eysenck-1995\/\">I reviewed it at length<\/a>. Most people in my circles found it a useful review and introduction, but it doesn&#8217;t go far enough on many issues. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/339426524_Human_Biodiversity_for_Beginners_A_Review_of_Charles_Murray's_Human_Diversity\">I wrote a formal review in Mankind Quarterly<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><a id=\"bookCover_36270046\" class=\"bookCoverTarget\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/36270046-fifty-years-of-occupational-psychology-in-britain\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"bookCover\" title=\"Fifty Years of Occupational Psychology in Britain by Sylvia Shimmin\" src=\"https:\/\/i.gr-assets.com\/images\/S\/compressed.photo.goodreads.com\/books\/1505855739l\/36270046._SX98_.jpg\" alt=\"Fifty Years of Occupational Psychology in Britain by Sylvia Shimmin\" \/><\/a> This is part of <a href=\"https:\/\/emilkirkegaard.dk\/en\/2020\/05\/military-psychology-a-review\/\">my reading on military psychology<\/a>. There is a lot of good stuff because the military is about quantitative improvements and large samples.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><a class=\"bookCoverTarget\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/3731579-stereotype-accuracy\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"bookCover\" title=\"Stereotype Accuracy by Lee Jussim\" src=\"https:\/\/i.gr-assets.com\/images\/S\/compressed.photo.goodreads.com\/books\/1266870752l\/3731579._SX98_.jpg\" alt=\"Stereotype Accuracy by Lee Jussim\" \/><\/a> I keep doing some work in social psychology, mostly related to stereotypes and real life. I saw some references to this old book and it&#8217;s worth the read, at least some of the chapters, <a href=\"https:\/\/emilkirkegaard.dk\/en\/2020\/03\/stereotype-accuracy-toward-appreciating-group-differences-by-yueh-ting-lee-lee-j-jussim-and-clark-r-mccauley-1995-review\/\">see the review<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><a id=\"bookCover_18770267\" class=\"bookCoverTarget\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/18770267-make-it-stick\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"bookCover\" title=\"Make It Stick by Peter C. Brown\" \/><\/a> I was reading this for consulting work, but it&#8217;s good enough that it&#8217;s worth posting here as well. It contains a lot of interesting material, but most of the analyses are very bare-bones. It&#8217;s easy because most claims in this area aren&#8217;t based on much evidence at all. This field is largely in early stages of a science and not making much progress due to terrible methodological standards.<\/div>\n<div><a id=\"bookCover_53288560\" class=\"bookCoverTarget\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/53288560-evidence-based-software-engineering\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"bookCover\" title=\"Evidence-Based Software Engineering by Derek M. Jones\" src=\"https:\/\/i.gr-assets.com\/images\/S\/compressed.photo.goodreads.com\/books\/1588075187l\/53288560._SX98_.jpg\" alt=\"Evidence-Based Software Engineering by Derek M. Jones\" \/><\/a> This book is probably the best software engineering book. It is somewhat haphazard but one cannot say it is not evidence based.
