Have you seen any children’s cartoons lately? Apparently, the predator – prey dynamic is too much for children to bear. Animals who actually kill other animals are always characterized as villains. My son’s favorite show is something called “Miss Spider.” In it all the spiders actually have chosen to eat berries instead of other bugs. Even the frogs were converted to vegetarianism. Kids his age routinely categorize dinosaurs as the “good ones” or plant eaters, and the “bad ones” or meat eaters. Is this, or is this not a case of people anthropomorphizing animals and judging them by human standards for morality?
