Citizen Scientific Racism

Aaron Panofsky (Associate Professor in the Institute for Society and Genetics, Public Policy, and Sociology, UCLA) is your typical history focused Jewish, anti-racist academic. Some years ago, he wrote an interesting book, Misbehaving Science: Controversy and the Development of Behavior Genetics (2014), a history on behavioral genetics. Although hostile, it contains a lot of interesting stuff, so I recommend it. Turns out, he has a new talk online, and it’s quite funny. I of course agree with the basic message: academics do suppress these views, and citizen science helps loosen this institutional bias. The open science movement is a great leveler, so its funny to see some woke academics attack open science because it looses their censorship tools.

Archived version here in case this one gets deleted.

This is apparently partially the same talk as he previously gave in 2019.
